Solano Public Health

Solano Public Health (SPH) is the Public Health Authority for statutory/mandatory, voluntary, and HITECH Meaningful Use reporting in Solano County.  All medical providers and laboratories operating in Solano County must report and submit appropriate data, except for Cancer Case Incidents, to SPH through the Solano Population and Public Health Hub (Hub) router for data that are electronically available and via fax or mail for those that are not electronically available.

Public Health Reporting and data sharing through a concerted effort between Solano Public Health and our healthcare partners are critical to improving the health of the community. Electronic submission of appropriate data to the SPH makes progress towards:

  • Rapid assessment and mitigation of communicable disease impacts, swift identification and containment of outbreaks, and comprehensive interventions to avoid chronic diseases through availability of faster, higher quality data;

  • Improving the ability to ascertain community-wide health and wellness needs and implement initiatives and activities to effect change through analytics and visualization of rich data;

  • Enabling public health to provide contextual data and information back to partners to improve situation awareness and implement dynamic Community Health Needs Assessments, as well as to the public to inform and educate;

  • Potentially reducing the overall cost to our healthcare partners to initially report, correct data, follow up in support of investigations, and provide other data and information to public health; and

  • Advancing innovation through partnerships and collaboration to accelerate the transition from healthcare to health.
